I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has made me feel so welcome at my first three Salisbury CAMRA events, particularly on the short pub crawl last night. I really enjoyed it, and loved talking to everyone there.

I used this website's profile facility to write a little about myself when I joined last month, but I notice that there have been no views! This presents me with a dilemma because it means none of the local members have read about my background, and I like to be honest about myself. So I'm using this forum instead.

In case anyone who's met me hasn't guessed, I'm a late middle-aged transgender woman. I'm happy to talk about some aspects of my background to people who are genuinely interested, so please don't think that the topic has to be carefully ignored. If you Google my name you'll soon spot  that I'm heavily involved with voluntary transgender support work both regionally and nationally. It is for this reason that I thought it right to be open about it now.

I may not be at March's branch social because of a diary clash  but I will try to make the next crawl.
From Eleanor Roberts.

Eleanor

Glad you feel welcomed.  Actually I dont know how to access a members profile (other than my own). I must ask our webmaster if the profiles are public.

See you at the bar.

You need to be logged in as a member because the profiles aren't open to public view. On the Members menu you can find a list of all members. Clicking on a members name brings up their profile. Very few (if any!) members have written anything. Maybe that's a good thing: it may reflect the fact that the local members are not a vain lot of people!

I like to think that the lack of profiles is because we are all too busy enjoying ale.

I'm glad you feel welcome - we are generally a friendly bunch...

It's pleasing to see someone actually using some of the features of the site. Like many of the members, the web site is not ultra-modern but, as you have seen, does have some features you'd expect from any forum. Thank you for sharing your news and please feel free to contribute to the site. I have added you to our CAMRA members group so you should, now, have access to additional material in the forums, including minutes from previous meetings.
